Women In Ministry International (WIMI) Bo Branch, completed her financial literacy training conducted by financial experts from Ecobank. WIMI is a women’s empowerment program under the People’s Foundation for the Development of Humanity (PeFoHD). One of PeFoHD’s mandates is community development through spiritual, moral and economic empowerment programs. Seventy women from Bo Town completed their trainings and received certificates accordingly. The last training sessions took place in Freetown where experts were invited, including professionals from Ecobank bank who trained them in banking, savings, investments, money management, etc. PeFoHD also invited agricultural engineers from the West Africa Rice Corporation (WARC) who have taught throughout the year. Gardening projects, food preservation and other agricultural skills training. The CEO of Tinapp for Development taught the ladies about saving and investing through shareholder businesses.
Last Thursday, PeFoHD completed the training session and then hosted a fundraising conference on Saturday where community leaders were represented, including representatives from World Vision, the mayor’s office, ombudsman, academia, heads of ministries, government officials and they gave various speeches to motivate women to reach their highest potential. Future PeFoHD trainings will include: adult literacy, numeracy, financial literacy and other professional, functional and other life skills.
In addition to WIMI women, future trainings will be open to other adults and young people who have missed out on formal schooling opportunities for various various reasons such as (war, poverty, post-ebola pregnancies, the elderly, dropouts / family exclusion from schooling).
